ABOUT THE FESTIVAL
The Rod Serling Video Festival premiered in 1995 as a county-wide festival for students in kindergarten through grade 12 as a means to promote the use of video arts technology and creativity in area schools. It was a huge success and in the following year the festival opened to students throughout the state of New York. Now a much anticipated annual event, the festival receives entries from as far west as Buffalo to the eastern shores of Long Island.
The Rod Serling Video Festival screening, made possible by the Rod Serling School of Fine Arts, will air on WSKG Public Television on Friday June 6, 2008 from 8:00 PM to 9:00 PM. The premiere broadcast will be projected on the "Big Screen" at the Helen Foley Theatre at Binghamton High School. A short awards ceremony will be held immediately following the broadcast for those filmmakers able to attend. Deadline for videos is May 1, 2008.
Entering is easy! Just create your video, fill out the entry form and mail it along with your $5 entry fee (make check payable to: The Rod Serling Video Festival).
All entries must be postmarked by May 1, 2008. Hope to see you at the premiere!![]() |
"Each year we receive many quality videos from all around the state. I often observe that the amount of technology used on each video does not necessarily determine the quality of the production. Some entries are produced with state of the art equipment and others are simple one-camera projects. The creativity is always refreshing!" Lawrence Kassan, Director |
